Bettina Hasan

Bettina has worked in knowledge and information management in UK government for 12 years and took up the role of ESN manager at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office right before the launch of the FCO’s social intranet. Now responsible for encouraging knowledge sharing through the use of collaboration tools, Bettina leads on “People”, the FCO’s collaborative staff directory and newsfeed, FCO online communities and the FCO’s online encyclopaedia, the FCOwiki. She’s also worked on the development of the FCO’s Digital Library and has extensive experience of delivering information services both within the FCO and the UK academic sector. She’s also a keen traveller and loves being outdoors.

Diane is the Head of Intranet and Library and Information Services in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office responsible for the FCO’s intranet and intranet tools as well and delivery of corporate information subscriptions across the FCO global network via its Digital Library. Diane has held a number of knowledge and information related roles in the FCO following a move from the academic sector part way through her career and is particularly interested in innovation and change to information delivery. Outside of work she is a keen traveller and enjoys poetry and modern art (appreciating not creating!)

Phil is PwC’s Global Social Media Risk and Governance Leader. He authored “Social Media Risk and Governance: Managing Enterprise Risk” (Kogan Page, 2015) and is a world-renowned expert, thought-leader and speaker on social media in the enterprise. Phil’s expertise in social media stems for experience using web technology to better manage financial and operational data.

Dave Hall

With 15 years’ experience of designing and building government digital solutions under his belt, Dave is currently delivering the Scottish Government’s digital workplace platform. His background in IT, project management, usability and user-experience (UX), means he successfully bridges the communications/technology divide, keeping good user-experience at the forefront of service design.

Dave has a keen interest in digital workplace strategy and in finding digital solutions which help people work smarter, encouraging flexibility and collaboration. His work to develop a shared intranet for the Scottish public sector will also break new ground in realising savings for government IT.

One day, Dave might actually finish his house renovation project. Two years and counting…

Andrew Hesselden

Andrew is founder of Coralfish and helps senior communicators understand and improve their intranet, web and social platforms.

Andrew fuses an Internal Communications background with modern User Experience Design-led thinking to make sure that his clients get the communication outcomes they need.

Previously Andrew was Group Intranet Manager at BAT and prior to that worked at Deutsche Bank and RBS.  Andrew also led member-engagement for Viadeo, a Paris-based competitor of LinkedIn.

This summer, Andrew has been working with WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff to prepare their UK intranet for a new global platform expected in 2017.

Jenni Field

Jenni is the new Communications Director for Perrigo.

Graduating with a Marketing degree, Jenni started a career in communications in local government before specialising in media relations at BAE Systems. Supporting events and regional press across the divisional UK sites the role focussed on the local and trade media. With some time focussed on PR, Jenni moved to specialise in internal communication at Thomson Local before gaining some agency experience at theblueballroom communications agency.

Returning in-house in 2010, Jenni joined SSP UK as their internal communications manager looking after 10,000 employees across over 700 outlets. After a few years, Jenni took over the internal communications for the wider Group and in October 2014 she was promoted to Group Head of Communications to manage all internal and external communication across the 29 countries and 30,000 people. In 2016 she joined Perrigo.

Jenni blogs at Confessions of an internal communicator. and in September 2012 she set up The IC Crowd on Twitter to help connect internal communicators across the globe. Jenni has been involved with CIPR since 2012 when she joined the CIPR Inside Committee. In 2013 she took on the role of treasurer and in 2014 she stepped up to Chair – a position she still holds today.

Paul Zimmerman

Paul is the COO of Invotra,the digital workspace that  connects people, content and things (IoT). Central to the employee engagement, internal communications and digital transformation strategies for large organisations, it’s used by 45% of employees across UK Government. He has spent the majority of his career at the forefront of innovative customer and user-centric propositions. In 1999, he joined the UK arm of where he was employee number three on the dedicated music team. After launching Amazon UK’s music business, Paul went on to lead Amazon’s UK music business for four years. Paul then led other well-known British ecommerce brands, including, where he was business development director for five years, and, where he was CEO for two years.

An American who moved to London in 1995, Paul now resides in the Woking area with his wife and two girls.

Julian Morency

Julian is the Product Director of cloud-based collaboration platform, Twine. Here he works with big enterprises and small organisations to make their workplaces better connected.  Twine is a cloud-based intranet that’s unexpectedly simple.

He has 10+ years’ of experience as a Digital Product Head for Browser London and is an advocate of the ‘hybrid’ approach, combining the advantages of cloud-based software with the flexibility of modular design.

I am a PRINCE2 and AGILE certified Senior Project Manager with a track record of delivering technology enabled change projects that enable organisations to transform their business environments.

I am recognised for my ability to engage with senior management to understand business drivers and then shape projects that realise genuine benefits which are aligned with business needs. I am experienced in managing multi-skilled delivery teams and driving high performance through empowerment, leadership and appraisal.

I have a strong technical background which means that I am ideally placed to challenge IT solution design and so ensure the delivery of fit for purpose solutions that meet business needs. I also place great emphasis on the value of building trusted relationships across the business and this facilitates the securing of buy in for significant change projects within politically sensitive environments.

Nicole Carter

Nicole has a track record of delivering user-focused intranets which make it easier for people to do their jobs.

She led on the successful delivery of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s intranet, replacing those of the eight fire brigades and college which merged to form the new organisation.

Fresh from that challenge she joined the Scottish Government to work on rationalising more than 50,000 pages of verbose content into something usable and useful. Through user testing and many iterations Nicole has trained her eye to recognise a great piece of user friendly copy at 100 paces.

With a background in project management, public relations, stakeholder communications and product design Nicole enjoys the challenge of helping people to actually do something rather than just talk about it…

Rachel Miller

Rachel Miller founded All Things IC consultancy in 2013 after a decade of working in-house.

She offers senior level counsel to help organisations and communicators achieve communication excellence.

Her clients include Harrods, O2, Jamie Oliver Group, PRS for Music, Heathrow Express, London Ambulance Service, Camden Council and the Zoological Society of London.

She’s a multiple award-winning professional, and Fellow of both CIPR and IoIC. Her thoughts have been featured in a number of best-selling PR books. She regularly shares her knowledge through her popular blog and All Things IC Masterclasses.

Ed Garcez is the Chief Information Officer for the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster City Council. Ed has worked with political and executive leaders and stakeholders across the three councils to agree the business case and target operating model for a shared ICT service.

Ed is passionate about the role that technology can play in enabling organisational change, and in delivering excellence. He works in partnership to ensure that teams across the councils work together to deliver the things that matter most.

Alex is the cofounder and managing director at Pixl8 a London based creative technical consultancy. Alex spends his days providing strategic direction and consulting on Pixl8’s advanced projects team.

Alex has extensive industry experience as well as 15 years as cofounder and managing director of Pixl8 Interactive, which is a successful global digital agency based in South London. The company delivers digital projects for numerous industry sectors with Alex providing strategic direction and consulting on the more advanced projects. As a ‘geek’ at heart Alex is passionate about design and code combining to achieve the best outcomes for customers, or partners as he likes to call them. In addition, Alex works with his platform team to deliver our Open Source CMS and MVC Framework, ‘PresideCMS’.

Communication Specialist (Digital Workplace) at UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division in Geneva (Switzerland), Ernst has over 15 years of experience leading intranets for international organisations and significant experience in internal communication, web content management systems, redesign, information architecture, collaboration, and enterprise social networks.

Kevin Cody

Kevin Cody has specialised in intranets for 20 years, half of that as Managing Director of SmallWorlders an intranet consulting and technology company based in London. He has worked with some of their larger clients including the NHS, Heineken and Nestle, picking up intranet awards along the way. More recently, frustrated by the lack of alternative viable metrics, Kevin has proselytised intranet engagement: how to measure it and of course how to achieve it.

Kevin Austin

Kevin is a Collaboration Consultant at Shell with the goal of improving collaboration across Shell’s complex ecosystem.

He specialises in Enterprise Social Networks, responsible for growing Shell’s Yammer platform to almost 50,000 members, one of the biggest in the world. Working largely with senior leaders, he helps to identify collaborative opportunities across the business and embed best practices to impact the bottom line.

He is currently working with operational excellence teams to launch a social learning platform for Shell’s global customer service centres.

Calum Haswell

Calum Haswell is an experienced collaboration and Knowledge Management expert, specialising in intranets and technology certainly but even more so in how we use these technologies to ‘get work done’.

He has been involved in leading a number of industry best intranet upgrades and projects and day to day is most passionate about understanding business need and using technology and processes to deliver against the strategic and operational goals of organisations.

Andrew Gilleran

Andrew is a SharePoint, Office 365, and Yammer consultant, trainer, and user adoption specialist based in Dublin. He spent many years managing intranets for Aviva plc and has significant experience in internal communications, writing, editing, collaboration, document management, training, usability, social enterprise networking, and web analytics in small businesses and multinationals.

His focus now is on ‘sustainable adoption’ for the end user with SharePoint and Office 365 especially for intranets and collaboration.

Mossy O’Mahony

Mossy is Newsweaver’s chief product strategist, and manages the company’s product direction and roadmap. He has worked for over ten years helping organizations use technology to better engage with their audiences, and now spends most of his time wondering how technology can be used to better communicate, engage and empower employees. He is passionate about the power of technology to transform and enrich our lives, which is another way of saying he’s a bit of a geek!

James Dellow

Passionate about changing the way the world gets work done, James is an Australian consultant who specialises in human-centred technologies that help people connect, communicate and collaborate with each other.

He brings more than a decade of experience working in intranet and knowledge management roles and as a consultant with a wide range of government, professional and blue chip companies. He has also worked as an advisor on technology strategies for Activity Based Working (ABW) projects.

As an accomplished author, speaker and commentator on technology issues he has been quoted in the Australian media and has also appeared as an expert on Sky Business News. He was awarded a Master of Business & Technology (UNSW) in 2005 and is also a former chair of the New South Wales Knowledge Management Forum.

John Scott

John is UX Director at Content Formula, a digital workplace consultancy specialising in intranets, Office 365 and SharePoint.

He has been working on intranets for the last 16 years. His work has covered both UX and technical roles which helps him bridge the gap between UX and technology. John is a great believer in user research and has developed a methodology to gather user input and translate these into coherent intranet strategy and requirements.

John has worked on a multitude of intranet projects across many industries. Most recently his focus has been on designing and refining his final, perfect intranet: Content Formula’s new intranet-in-a-box product – Simplify.

Ann-Marie Peacock

Internal Communication Manager for Dialog Semiconductor, a growing company that has 33 offices located worldwide with over 1700 employees. Originally from a Fine Arts background with a career in the HNW Insurance industry, Anne-Marie made the cross over to internal comms when she joined Dialog in 2012 after a career break for children.

Ann-Marie’s primary role within the comms team is to manage the content on the company intranet page and to project manage the video strategy to help share knowledge and improve cross-site and cross-team communication. Ann-Marie is a member of the IABC and IoIC.

Hanna Karppi

Sam Marshall

Sam MarshallHaving specialised in intranets and the digital workplace for over 17 years, working with companies such as AstraZeneca, AkzoNobel, TUI Travel, Sony and SABMiller, Sam is well placed to talk about how people work. His current activities focus on intranet and digital workplace strategy, the business side of SharePoint, and the use of social tools for collaboration and internal communication.

Sam was responsible for Unilever’s global portal implementation, leading the roll-out of over 700 online communities to 90,000 people and consolidating several thousand intranets into one.

He is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences. In 2015 Sam was given the Intranet Now award for ‘remarkable contribution to the intranet community’. He has an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MA in Psychology and more bicycles than shoes.

Martin WhiteMartin White, of Intranet Focus

Martin has been involved in intranet strategy and implantation since 1997. He set up Intranet Focus Ltd in 1999 and since then has worked on intranets that are being used by approaching 500,000 employees of organisations in Europe, North America and the Middle East. Many of his clients have been in the pharmaceutical and high tech sectors, but he is especially proud of his work for the IMF, World Bank and the United Nations.

At present his current clients include one of the world’s leading law firms, a European pharmaceutical company and a small UK professional services organisation.

Martin is the author of books on information consulting, content management and intranet management and three books on enterprise search implementation. He is currently working on a second edition of ‘Enterprise Search’ for publication in early 2015

Intranet FocusMartin has been a Visiting Professor at the Information School, University of Sheffield since 2002 and has served on a number of committees for the Royal Society of Chemistry, of which he is a Fellow. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Information Management and also a member of the Royal College of Organists.
